They're bouncing back nicely,,,

The barrier islands of Southwest Florida have been devastated.  However, the Sanibel causeway has re-opened with a Herculean effort and there's a temp bridge in place out on Pine Island.  I drove through Bonita Beach, (a coupla Keys south of F.M.B.), last weekend trying to get to F.M.B. and they were completely blown out all the way to the back bay.   It broke my heart, it's still really hard to digest and I haven't been to San Carlos Island, (that's Fort Margaritaville Beach, F.M.B. ;-).  It's probably a conservative guesstimate to say that half of all the businesses in the Fort Myers Beach Directory are completely gone.  There's so many hotels, restaurants and small businesses that will never re-open.  Some will rebuild and it will all get re-developed.  For the better depends on who's book your going by.  I like Old Florida.  Hopefully, they'll preserve what they can and make F.M.B. and all of Southwest Florida Great Again.
  And just for nothing,,,
